The Yawning
I saw the sky roaring bright,
Mouth split open wide,
Bleeding out colors like some seventeen year old
Contending with the universe for the first time,
Ready to spit out the stars
And constellations of shattered smiles.

I really like this! The imagery is brilliant. I forgot the posh term I learnt in my english lecture the other day, but basically theres the first image you get, then as you look into it you begin to see more meanings in the words. Its really different to the poetry you usually get along a 'sky' theme, which makes it interesting.

Nice job!

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. ^__^ That's definitely something I try to do with my poetry at times.

Personally, I see a dialectic of contraries--the sky is both beautiful and ugly, peaceful and horrible. I love the bleeding of colors; it provides a very stark contrast to the innocent way people generally see sunsets/sunrises/the sky in general.

Very good job! *Snaps* ^_-
